Describes the progress made by the Housing Improvement Task Force (HITF) Single Survey Steering Group in respect of the single survey pilot project which will take place in four areas of Scotland in 2004. States the objective of the pilot project, its duration, the criteria for selecting the pilot localities and the property types included and excluded. Reports that, although it was agreed that the proposed purchaser's information pack should be piloted, it should be piloted separately to the single survey. Notes that the design of the single survey report would be undertaken by RICS and that RICS'concerns about professional indemnity insurance issues should be addressed. A hidden defects guarantee should be included in the survey pilot.
