Maintenance: from philosophy to practice
Dann, Nigel
Maintenance: from philosophy to practice - 2005 - Journal of Architectural Conservation 11(1) March 2005, 42-54(13) .
The maintenance of historic buildings has received little academic study or practiceorientated development in the UK. Maintain our Heritage (which was established in 1999 on the premise that the UK should adopt a more sustainable and proactive maintenance based policy towards historic buildings) is trying to change this. It has developed a wide programme of research aimed at understanding current attitudes towards maintenance and exploring potential ways forward. A pilot maintenance service has been completed which inspected 73 listed buildings in the Bath area.
