Maintain our Heritage (which was established in 1999 on the premise that the UK should adopt a more sustainable and proactive maintenance based policy towards historic buildings) is trying to change this. It has developed a wide programme of research aimed at understanding current attitudes towards maintenance and exploring potential ways forward.
