An ideal for building

An ideal for building - 2006 - Contract Journal 432(6568) 29 March 2006, 20-22(3) .

Looks at the implications for the construction industry of the imminent changes to the building regulations. Buildings will now have to be assessed on the basis of the performance of the entire building, rather of each element, so that the on-site building process will have to be more tightly controlled. Offsite construction and building services engineers are likely to be the biggest beneficiaries of the new regulations. There is a general acceptance that there will be a period of transition whilst the industry adjusts to the new ways of working required by the revisions to the regulations. A separate article outlines the main changes to the Building Regulations.
