Reports that an increasing number of universities are using the private sector to help fund student accommodation and other facilities. Both the private sector and an increasing number of universities believe that the standard of accommodation may be a crucial factor in attracting students, particularly those from abroad. The University Partnerships Programme (UPP), which offers a design-build-operate service to universities, has recently launched a facilities management division, and has also formed a public-private partnership with the University of Plymouth to develop its academic facilities.
