Explores the inter-relationships between maintenance costs, maintenance strategy, resource allocation, outsourcing, benchmarks and the maintenance cost index for hotels in Hong Kong. Also considers maintenance cost distribution, obstacles to multi-skilling and maintenance practices. Presents survey results from a questionnaire completed by 41 hotel facilities managers. Concludes the success of a hotel relies mainly on satisfying customer needs through quality services and cost control.
