Solicitors failed to gain an extended lease for their client, the plaintiff, who later agreed an extended lease with the landlords but lost the right to the freehold . The court had to decide the measure of damages ; when the breach occurred or later when the compromise was reached with the landlord. The latter date was held to be correct.
