Summary, etc. Although it could seemingly help resolve many of its problems, use of partnering in Singapore's construction industry is currently very low. Describes a research project, which involved a questionnaire survey, that verified three hypotheses: that the Singapore contractors' way of conducting business is influenced by Chinese culture; that Chinese culture could help promote partnering in the Singapore construction industry; and that, because of their similar culture, it is easier to partner between Chinese contractors and clients. The study concluded that Singapore Chinese contractors must discard their mutual distrust and embrace their Chinese roots to implement partnering, and so enhance their competitiveness in the regional market.
