Summary, etc. The estimated of volume of traffic in Britain rose by 1.5% between the third quarters of 2002 and 2003. Amongst the statistics, figures indicated that car traffic rose by 1 per cent, and light van traffic rose by 6 per cent over the same period. There was an increase of 10 per cent in two wheeled motor vehicles and buses. These estimates are based on data from 180 automated traffic counters in the road. Road traffic is one of the Government's headline indicators of sustainable development.
