It does not generally change the law regarding town or village greens other than the registration of greens and the criteria for registering new greens. Part 1 provides for commons registration authorities to maintain registers of common land. Part 2 enables the appropriate national authority to establish commons associations. Part 3 introduces a streamlined regime for applications to undertake works on registered common land and Part 4 contains schedules of amendments, repeals and general provisions.
