Aims to identify features which either enabled recently built sustainable schools to be more sustainable in use, or which led to difficulties in achieving good performance. Highlights four aspects of performance as especially important in the design, construction and operation of a school building: getting the fundamentals right; taking account of operational, maintenance and management requirements; complementing the needs and habits of the occupiers; and designing for change and uncertainty.
