Reports on the current drivers for business and how they affect property portfolio management. Finds some business sectors seek to expand their property portfolios, including distribution, hotels and catering and construction. Finds that profitability and reducing costs remain the key business drivers; location and cost are the key factors influencing the decision to relocate; transport infrastructure is a major concern. The reduction of rate relief on empty properties is seen as having a negative effect, but this is not severe for most firms. Businesses view lower costs as the key benefit of eco-friendly buildings and occupiers are prepared to pay a higher rent for a green building.
