Summary: Consultation seeks views on the proposed amendment to the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW Act) for coastal land. This amendment will ensure that coastal land is included in the description of land to which the public has access for open-air recreation in the CROW Act. Changes proposed also include modifications to: the provisions for restrictions and exclusions of access to coastal land; the categories of excepted land at Schedule 1; and the general restrictions to be observed by persons exercising the right of access at Schedule 2.Summary: Deadline for comments is 1 December 2009.
