Virtually all industry sub-sectors have been buoyant in the second quarter: private house building with 40% of surveyors reporting rises, public housing with 21%, public non-housing work with 31% and private commercial building with 38%. Rising interest rates and costs are seen as the only potential brakes on the industry at the moment.
