The aim is for it to help simplify the process of agreeing contracts and therefore speed up delivery of decent and affordable homes. PFI is a key component of the government's Decent Home programme, as well as in the provision of affordable housing for rent. £1.22bn has already been dedicated to the Housing PFI programme over the next three years.
